Modern-Day Boardwalk Empire Bridal Styled Shoot

Updated May 16, 2015 by Mid-South Bride

Boardwalk Empire Bridal Style Shoot 13 - Edward Lai Photography midsouthbride.com

Today’s styled inspiration shoot takes it’s sexy inspiration from the Jazz Age. Inspired by Boardwalk Empire, the team behind this photo shoot recreated a modern day twist on Boardwalk Empire, the HBO series set in Prohibition-era Atlantic City. The user of brick, wood, leather, and cigars created the perfect atmosphere to send your mind straight back to the 1920s.

This 1920s photo shoot crafted by A Day to Remember Wedding & Events utilized the room’s warm brick, wood and leather elements to create the right setting for this Boardwalk Empire inspired wedding shoot. The mix of masculine setting and cigar bar with feminine dresses, paper details, and florals creates an exciting mix of hard and soft elements.

The long wooden reception table featured a gold sequenced table runner and three-foot-wide set of moose antlers a the centerpiece. Draped with bold marsala and peach florals and lush greens, this striking centerpiece inspired much of the other decor. The team added more golden touches throughout by using tall gold candle holders, gold charger plates, peach napkins & beaded gold napkin holders, and cracked style gold wine glasses.

Café lights were hung over the white brick to create a cozy atmosphere and add a soft element to an otherwise masculine look. Those lights softened the room and created a beautiful glow for photos.

Keeping with the theme of the photo shoot the team created a large cigar bar with mirrors and lanterns.  Individual cigars were also used on the table as table settings as favors and place cards for each guest.

Florals were used throughout the room to soften the masculine feel of the venue. A bold palette of marsala and peach was used with roses, mini roses, carnations, and ranunculus used in the design. Two different bridal bouquets were created for the shoot: one that was more structured and traditional and one that was more organic and wild. The two show the different options brides have these days for bouquets to carry.

The color palette was carried through into other aspects of the shoot like the stationery that featured marsala andshimmery off-white, gold and peach with charcoal lettering in bold Boardwalk Empire-era fonts. The cake also followed suit with a simple white fondant cake topped with a handcut deer mosaic and a deep Marsala sugar peony adorning the top.
