Annika & David's Arkansas Wedding

Weddings are always about coming together. It’s what makes them so special. That’s why today’s wedding and the true coming together story behind it is one we couldn’t wait to share.

David is Chinese and grew up in Costa Rica while Annika is from Springdale, Arkansas. How did these two meet? In a dance class ballerina Annika loved but made David grumble. David thought she was the most beautiful girl in the world and from that class on they were inseparable. Since these two grew up in different worlds their wedding was all about coming together and melding their two families.

The wedding itself is full of modern elegance with an all glass wedding chapel and bouquets with succulents, yet still manages to honor tradition. From getting ready at Annika‘s aunt’s historic craftsman-style home to Annika’s dress and David’ groom’s cake, the wedding reflected tradition and grace.

Tell us about your love story! How did you guys meet?

“David and I met swing dancing one cold evening in January. Dancing is something I’ve always enjoyed and David was trying it out for the first time. David is outgoing and friendly and I am more naturally reserved and quiet, but I found myself searching him out throughout the evening, showing him how to dance east coast swing and pulling a chair over to him when he was sitting alone (which he later said surprised him). We connected, and by the end of evening we parted, both hoping it wouldn’t be our last meeting. David saw to it that it wasn’t, and our first date was to one of my favorite local coffee shops. I purposely dressed down: loose fitting clothes, makeup to a minimum, my nerdy glasses… just to gauge his interest; and he was not deterred. After a few more coffee dates, dinners and a movie, our fate was sealed. The rest is history.”

What was the most memorable part of your wedding?

“The most memorable and beautiful part of the wedding to me was the setting. The beautiful cathedral-like Chapel set against the backdrop of an Ozark spring afternoon. It was truly my dream location.”
